Six Days on the San Fran Road

Alcatraz - Bar has a better picture on his phone, but that seems like too much work to figure out right now

What better place to start - the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. We arrived in SF last Friday having been informed about the Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass festival in Golden Gate Park, by my step-brother Russell. "Maybe you'd be interested in this kind of thing" he emailed, having pegged us perfectly. However, we were both so keen to walk the GGB that it was the first thing we did which meant we missed some music. Boo-hoo. Driving in the city to find our hostel totally freaked me out: my goodness those hills - much like in the pictures, but steeper. We stayed at the HI Downtown Hostel, and as is often the case, our first night in anything "indoors" tends to see us catching up on email, and in this case phoning Char and Ruby.

But we did get to the festival Sat and Sun - 11am - 7pm. We heard top quality music, and saw some big name acts all free. We were so impressed, and had a totally great time. Below are a few great close-ups Bar got just to give you and idea of what we were treated to.
Jerry Douglas - Alison Kraus joined him for 3 songs

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers

Billy Bragg

Emmy Lou and Rodney Crowell
